More about me
My name is Anita George. I'm actively looking for full-time and/or part-time work in journalism either remotely or in the Atlanta and Metro Atlanta area. I've worked as a journalist in online media since 2013. I've been the content manager for my website, anitamgeorge.com since 2011. I currently work as a freelance journalist for Digital Trends. And while most of my journalism experience has been within the world of technology journalism, I have the proven versatility necessary to cover a wide variety of beats/verticals, including: science, lifestyle, food and drink, health and wellness, news writing, pop culture, politics and local news.

I am definitely also looking to improve my audio production and sound editing skills. I am new to audio, but I have solid reporting and writing skills and I can pick up new skills very quickly. In fact, that was a huge part of my job when I worked full-time at a public library for six years. When I worked for the library, it was my job to quickly train myself in different technologies, devices and software and then turn around and train our customers and other staff members to master those same skills. One example: Within a month, I taught myself to run a 3D printer and to design objects to be 3D printed and then I ran several workshops and demos to teach local teens and library staff how to do the same.

My library work experience also gave me ample opportunity to sharpen my research skills since I had to ensure that my customers knew how to access accurate, reliable information for their research needs.

My short-term goals include being a full-time reporter or associate editor for a news organization and learning everything I can about audio production, digital media and multimedia journalism and storytelling. My long-term goals include being a news or managing editor at a news organization, later becoming a producer/host of my own news magazine style radio show or podcast.
