Rebecca Carroll is a writer, cultural critic, and host of the podcasts Come Through with Rebecca Carroll: 15 essential conversations about race in a pivotal year for America (WNYC Studios), and Billie Was a Black Woman (an Audible original). Rebecca is also the creator and curator of the live event and audio series, In Love & Struggle, which shares the lives and experiences of Black women in America through monologues, stories, music and humor. A former critic-at-large for the Los Angeles Times, and cultural critic for WNYC/New York Public Radio, Rebecca’s writing has been published widely. She is the author of several books about race in America, including the award-winning Sugar in the Raw: Voices of Young Black Girls in America, and most recently, her critically-acclaimed memoir, Surviving the White Gaze. Rebecca is currently editor-at-large for The Meteor media collective. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and son.
