More about me
I cover work, money and other "business-ish" for NPR's daily economics podcast The Indicator from Planet Money. Before joining NPR, I worked for WBUR in Boston, WCPN in Cleveland and WNYC in New York. I’ve also been a regular contributor to APM’s Marketplace and NPR News.

Since making a left-turn from a career in law to one in journalism, I’ve reported on what it’s like to deliver groceries during an outbreak, traveled to China to unpack how the trade war crushed a growing market for U.S. cranberries, and profiled people on the brink of the pandemic-economy. On top of that, I’ve covered protests for racial justice, explored how a small convenience store became a Japanese retail giant, and witnessed the curious ritual that is ‘speed dating for economists.’

I have a law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law (where I carved out a focus on media law) and am licensed to practice law in New York. During law school, I worked as a law clerk at the Baltimore Public Defender, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and Baltimore City Circuit Court.

Some years ago, I worked as a prep cook in a ramen shop.
