Before that, I taught sound design for 13 years in the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film & Television at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and served as director of the first-year program, and co-chair of the department's Admissions Committee. During my 10 years at The New York Times, I produced the weekly Music Popcast, NY Times Book Review, Times Insider and Tech Talk podcasts, and did some editing and sound design for the Modern Love animated series. I also worked on the MashUp Americans podcast for APM, and Signal, the science and medicine podcast from Stat News and Boston Globe Media. I was the sound designer/mixer for How It Is and My Best BreakUp, the first two original podcasts from Reese Witherspoon's company, Hello Sunshine.
I am the technical director and a producer for Feet In Two Worlds, an award-winning multimedia journalism project that brings the work of immigrant journalists and journalists of color from communities across the U.S. to public radio and online news sites. I provide training and mentorship in FI2W workshops and fellowships, and I co-produce the Ippies Award-winning Feet in Two Worlds podcast.
As a radio reporter and producer, my work has appeared on Studio 360, WNYC New York Public Radio, Soundcheck, Marketplace, Weekend America, Sound Money, Radiolab, Musicians Radio on XM Satellite, Ear Studio, Minnesota Public Radio, and Pop Tech Jam. I worked on hundreds of audiobooks for Simon & Schuster Audio, mixed documentary films, edited radio dramas for the Radio Stage on WNYC, and worked in satellite and broadcast services for ABC Radio Networks. I got my start by spinning actual vinyl records on the late-night shift at my college radio station.
